At Abundant Life Senior Care, we understand that choosing a home for yourself or someone you love is one of life’s most important decisions. Our goal is to provide more than assistance with daily needs—we want to create a warm, welcoming home where every resident is known personally, treated with compassion, dignity, and respect, and given the opportunity to thrive.

A Personal Commitment to Care
Gardner Kerin founded Abundant Life Senior Care out of a lifelong desire to serve others and a firsthand appreciation for the difference exceptional, personal care can make. He earned his BA from Biola University and his Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology before spending many years living and serving in Russia and Ukraine, working closely with individuals, families, and local communities. Gardner speaks both English and Russian.
In 2022, Gardner met Yoana, who has been an Adult Family Home Provider since 1995. He was immediately struck by her compassion for her residents, the relationships she built with their families, and the remarkable difference that attentive, experienced care could make in a person’s quality of life.
Yoana’s decades of experience helped inspire Gardner to open Abundant Life Senior Care. Together, they saw an opportunity to combine Gardner’s heart for serving others with Yoana’s extensive experience in senior care—creating a home where they could serve residents and families together and make a meaningful difference in their lives. Yoana also speaks Romanian.
Family, Faith, Community & Living Life Fully
Together, Gardner and Yoana have nine children—mostly grown—and four grandchildren. Family is an important part of their lives, and that perspective carries into the way they approach senior care: building relationships, communicating closely with loved ones, supporting their caregivers, and creating a genuine sense of community within the home.
Their Christian faith is also an important part of who they are and inspires their commitment to serving others with compassion, grace, and respect. At the same time, they believe each resident’s individual beliefs and spiritual traditions should be honored and respected. Residents of all faiths and backgrounds are welcomed and valued at Abundant Life Senior Care.
Gardner and Yoana believe life should be enjoyed and lived fully at every age. Outside of work and family, they share a love of skiing, scuba diving, camping, and spending time outdoors.
That same appreciation for life is reflected in their vision for Abundant Life Senior Care. Excellent care is not simply about meeting physical needs. It is about knowing each resident as an individual—their history, personality, preferences, routines, and the things that bring them comfort and joy.
Our low caregiver-to-resident ratio allows our team to provide attentive, personalized care and meaningful interaction. And as residents’ needs change, our goal is to provide the continuity, experience, and support necessary for them to remain in the home they know, including through hospice and end-of-life care whenever appropriate.

Yoana and Gardner hire caring, competent caregivers who are definitely on spot with everything my Mom needs. From Mom’s private room, to good nourishing food, administering her meds...regular showers, and understanding what she wants. That may be watching TV, to doing puzzles with her, reading to her or getting her outside on the porch (which is so good mentally for her!) They are very attentive to her sleeping habits..attending to her at anytime day or night!
Also, whenever I have a question I have felt confident contacting them by phone, or talking in person.
One or the other promptly respond with full knowledge of what is going on with Mom, and that is so reassuring to say the least!

Very homey, and our family enjoyed visiting there with her anytime. We won’t forget how we got to celebrate her 90th birthday with all her closest family present! What a treasure! Our pricing is transparent and all-inclusive based on the level of care required (from basic ADL assistance to advanced memory/dementia or hospice and bed-bound care). Monthly rates cover private room accommodations, 24/7 caregiving, home-cooked meals and snacks, daily laundry, housekeeping, medication administration, and scheduled daily activities. Additional options include special air-fluctuating mattresses, private bathrooms, and incontinence supplies. There are no surprise hidden fees.
What specialized memory care training do your caregivers receive?

All caregivers at Abundant Life Senior Care undergo DSHS-certified Dementia and Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities specialty training along with their Home Care Aid (HCA) and/or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) training. Under the direct supervision of our RN Nurse Delegator, they are further equipped to handle the specific medication and care needs of our residents. Caregivers also receive training in gentle validation techniques, sensory stimulation, sundowning management, and de-escalation strategies to keep memory care residents calm, oriented, and safe.
Do you accept Medicaid or State Assistance options?

Yes. Abundant Life Senior Care operates primarily as a private-pay (including Long Term Care insurance policies) Adult Family Home to maintain our intimate 1:3 caregiver-to-resident ratio depending on residents’ care needs. However, we do accept Medicaid and State Assistance, and veterans’ Aid & Attendance benefits, and we work with families to evaluate spend-down options for residents after an initial private-pay period of 3 years.
What are your family visiting hours and policies?

We view our residents’ families as an integral part of our home. Standard visiting hours are 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily, 7 days a week. We also welcome family members to join residents for special holiday celebrations with advance notice.
What safety measures and emergency protocols are in place?

Abundant Life Senior Care is staffed 24/7 and includes wander-prevention door alarms, non-slip ADA accessible showers with grab bars, emergency call systems for each resident, and an external standby power backup generator in case of power failure. We are located 3 min from the nearest Fire Station #17 and 13 minutes from Valley Medical Center with ER and trauma services.
Can you accommodate specialized dietary restrictions or preferences?

Absolutely. Meals are prepared fresh daily in our kitchen. We customize recipes for low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, pureed/mechanical soft, gluten-free, and kosher/halal preferences depending on our residents’ needs and physicians’ orders. We encourage families of our residents to share some of their special recipes and are always striving for variety and meals that bring comfort, pleasure, and nutrition to our residents.
What daily activities are offered to keep residents engaged?

Our daily activity calendar balances cognitive, physical, creative, and spiritual wellness. Highlights include gentle seated exercise, gardening in raised outdoor beds, live special music, art and pet therapy, trivia, outdoor deck time, puzzles, games, crafts, movie nights, and neighborhood walks in our peaceful Carriagewood neighborhood.
What is the caregiver-to-resident ratio and staff qualifications?

We generally maintain an exceptional 1:3 caregiver-to-resident ratio during waking hours depending on our residents’ needs. All caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) or Home Care Aides (HCA) CPR/First Aid certified, and background-checked by Washington State DSHS.
